Self-care isn't selfish

Time for yourself seems to always get pushed down the list. Something comes up and ‘me time’  gets pushed aside, or forgotten completely. Well we’re here to say that you deserve to put yourself first! As the saying goes; you can’t give with an empty cup. That’s why you need to make sure that yours is full before you can give to others.

Easier said than done I hear you say? Totally! Time is vital in this day and age, with more and more of it being filled up by non-essentials. And unfortunately, constant on-the-go can lead to burn out where you feel stressed and completely over it. And we don’t want that! Other benefits of self-care include:

Why you need self-care: 

  • Refresh the mind
  • Rest the body
  • Tune into your emotions
  • Lower stress and anxiety
  • Boost self-confidence
  • Increase Productivity
  • Remember what is important in life 

The good news is that you don’t need hours each day to dedicate to self-care (although that would be great!). There are some super simple, quick, and easy ways to refresh and feel ready to participate in life again.

Simple ways to care for yourself in 10 minutes or less

  • Care for a plant
  • Sunbathe
  • Sing along to your favourite song – no talent necessary!
  • Keep a journal
  • Get lost in a book
  • Sit on the beach
  • Walk in nature
  • Paint in nature
  • Have a coffee out
  • Follow a 10-minute meditation video
  • Get a massage from a loved one – we can only try!

With regular ‘me time’ you can feel back to the real you, and back to enjoying this thing we call life! Don’t wait until you have less responsibilities, get a better job, have time off, your youngest goes to school, etc etc. NOW is the time to invest in you. You deserve to find joy in each and every day.
